Scratchboard (or scraper board in the UK) is an interesting concept. The board is covered with a thin layer of China clay then coated again with black India ink. You can use a variety of scraping tools to remove as much or as little as you want. Add paint or water colour to give it a different appearance.

Welcome to my pen and ink.
Most of my work is done using either pen, charcoal or pencil.
I call it "doodling with no thought in mind"...
other than... when should I stop. When is a doodle finished? The cleaner the better, so I tend to use a fine tipped Pigma Micron 05.
Below is a collection of "what- nots "done mostly with slow jazz in the background.
Most of the sketches are 15x11"(38.1x28 cm)
I haven't titled them other than N0:1,2,3,4 etc and the year.The paper stock is: 130 lb (212gsm) Natural White Sheets named Pentalic.
